Why Politicians are like the Borg

This is a short (and humorous) exploration into how politicians are like the Borg. The Borg, for those of you who don't know, are a fictional humanoid race/species in the Star Trek franchise.

So, let's begin!

1. They adapt. You can only use something on them a few times before they learn to work around it.
2. You can never defeat all of them - they keep coming, like zombies.
3. Half of their success hinges upon their reputation.
4. They work solely for themselves, though they say it helps those they affect.
5. Everybody knows about them.
6. Just about anyone who had the chance to get rid of them completely would take it.
7. They always think their way is the best way.
8. Resistance is futile. They always win. (or so they say)
9. They are everywhere.
10. It's hard not to notice them. They're always attracting attention.
11. They don't use conventional weaponry.
12. The leaders prefer to let other people do their dirty work.
13. Nobody knows where they came from.
14. They're often ugly as anything.
15. They rely heavily on technology.
16. Despite #15, technology is also their downfall.
17. They like to get influential people to be their spokespersons.
18. They rarely attack unless provoked.
19. They're always looking to recruit more people to their cause.
20. They're crooks.

Wow, twenty ways... I'm surprised. ...Not really. This was fun, though. I should do it again sometime.
